Al-Sharaa to Trump: Give “New Jersey” to Israel Since You Own It

Al-Taj News – Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa said on Wednesday that he jokingly asked U.S. President Donald Trump to give New Jersey to Israel since he owns it, while the Golan Heights belong to their rightful owners.

Al-Sharaa said during a dialogue session on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings: “President Trump is a man who stood by Syria, supported it, and issued a historic decision to lift sanctions on Syria.”

He added: “I respect him very much, and I have a very special relationship with him.”

He continued: “I was joking with him one day when I visited him at the White House, when he mentioned the issue of his recognition of the Golan Heights. I told him, why don’t you give them New Jersey, if you are keen to give Israel some land?”

He went on to say: “I think New Jersey belongs to the Democrats, and they do not vote for President Trump, so it would be good to give it to them.”

He noted that “Trump owns New Jersey, whereas he does not own the Golan Heights. Regardless of this joke, the Golan Heights have their own people, and no one, neither a Syrian president nor a U.S. president, has the right to give it up to the other.”
