Before the United Nations, Macron Describes Gaza Truce as a “Shameful Spectacle”

Al-Taj News – French President Emmanuel Macron described the truce in the Gaza Strip as a “shameful spectacle” amid the continuing catastrophic humanitarian situation, criticizing the failure to open humanitarian corridors for aid despite the ceasefire.

In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Macron said: “Some boast of an alleged peace. But this peace has not opened the humanitarian corridors for even one second. Are we supposed to watch this spectacle that shames us all? Absolutely not!”

Since October 2025, a ceasefire has been in effect in the Gaza Strip, but the Israeli army continues to carry out strikes on Palestinian territory, claiming that its targets are Hamas facilities and members.

According to United Nations assessments in the Strip, the humanitarian situation remains “catastrophic” against the backdrop of widespread destruction, disruptions to the functioning of medical institutions, and ongoing problems in providing the population with food and basic necessities.

The statement comes at a time when Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement, as the Gaza Ministry of Health announced that the death toll since the agreement took effect on October 11 has risen to more than 1,372 martyrs and 4,659 injured, while the total number of bodies recovered has reached 831.

Hamas had previously affirmed that “the occupation army’s continued daily killing of women and children represents an escalation of the war of extermination that has not stopped,” calling on the Arab and Islamic countries participating in the “Peace Council” to “take a clear and practical position toward the occupation’s crimes and violations.”
