Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh President of the Twentieth House of Representatives in Its Third Session

Al-Taj News – The twentieth House of Representatives elected, on Monday, MP Ibrahim Al-Tarawneh as Speaker of the House in its third ordinary session, following a competition with MPs Mijhem Al-Sqour and Suleiman Al-Zaben, during the first session held by the House presided over by MP Musa Al-Wahsh.

Al-Tarawneh’s election came after an understanding reached by the parliamentary blocs of Al-Meethaq, Mubadara, Azm, Centrist Parties, and Reform, on October 29, regarding the distribution of Permanent Bureau positions, stipulating that the House Speakership be allocated to the Al-Meethaq bloc, which chose Al-Tarawneh as its candidate.

With his election, the House of Representatives records a precedent that is the first in the history of Jordanian parliamentary life, with two brothers assuming the House Speakership, as his brother Atef Al-Tarawneh previously chaired the House of Representatives from 2013 until 2020, for seven consecutive ordinary sessions.

In a historical precedent.. “Al-Tarawneh” is the first syndicate head in the history of Jordanian professional syndicates to assume the Speakership of the House of Representatives.
