Turkey Hints at New Proposals to End the Iran-U.S. War

Al-Taj News – Turkey has hinted at new efforts to end the war between the United States and Iran. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said his country is working with other countries to prepare new proposals aimed at pushing Tehran and Washington toward reaching an agreement to end the war.

Fidan also said in remarks to Turkish NTV channel on Saturday evening: “Turkey and other countries are putting forward proposals and making every possible effort to bring the negotiations between the United States and Iran to a conclusion.”

However, he did not disclose details of these proposals, but pointed to a state of mistrust between the U.S. and Iranian sides. He said: “There is a strong lack of trust between the two sides. And now both sides are clearly trying to move this process forward in a way that ensures their interests.”

The remarks came ahead of an expected meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, which begin next Tuesday in New York.

They also came as the Iranian side maintains its seven conditions for returning to the negotiating table with the United States.

Trump, meanwhile, hinted days ago that he faces making a decisive decision regarding the Iranian issue.

Pakistan had also reactivated its efforts, which had essentially never stopped, to urge the Iranian and U.S. sides to return to the negotiating table. On Saturday, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar discussed the latest regional developments with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of maintaining energy supplies and ensuring the safe and swift passage of ships, particularly given the repercussions for developing countries and global supply chains, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan.
