Al Safadi in Syria Welcomes Announcement of SDF Dissolution and Integration into Syrian Military Institutions

Al-Taj News – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al Shaibani held expanded talks on Wednesday, affirming their keenness to build on the continued development witnessed in Jordanian-Syrian relations, continue efforts to develop them into a comprehensive strategic partnership, and enhance operational and institutional cooperation between the two countries across various fields.

Safadi and Al Shaibani discussed preparations for the third session of the Higher Coordination Council, scheduled to be held in Damascus in October this year, as well as following up on the implementation of the outcomes of the second session, held in Amman last April, and translating the agreements reached into operational steps, particularly in the sectors of trade, investment, transport, customs, water, energy, and other priority sectors, in a manner that serves the interests of the two countries and peoples.

Safadi affirmed the Kingdom’s steadfast position in supporting Syria in its reconstruction process on foundations that guarantee its unity, sovereignty, security, stability, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, while preserving the rights of all Syrians. He stressed that Syria’s security and stability are a cornerstone of the security and stability of the region.

Safadi welcomed the announcement of the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and their integration into the Syrian military institutions, describing it as an important step toward strengthening the unity, security, and stability of the Syrian Arab Republic. He affirmed the Kingdom’s support for all efforts aimed at strengthening Syria’s unity and sovereignty and the cohesion of its institutions.

Safadi and Al Shaibani also discussed developments in southern Syria and the efforts being made to implement the joint Jordanian-Syrian-American roadmap concerning resolving the crisis in Sweida and stabilizing southern Syria, on the basis of the unity of Syrian territory, in a manner that guarantees the security and rights of all Syrian citizens and the sovereignty of the Syrian state over its entire territory.

Safadi and Al Shaibani renewed their condemnation of the repeated Israeli attacks and incursions into Syrian territory and affirmed the need to halt them, considering them a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a blatant breach of international law and Israel’s obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

They warned of the consequences of continued Israeli attacks on Syria’s security and stability and on regional security and stability, at a time when the Syrian government is focusing on reconstruction and ensuring Syria’s security and stability, while pursuing the diplomatic track to address outstanding issues and achieve de-escalation.

Safadi and Al Shaibani affirmed the need to end the Israeli occupation of the Syrian territories it has occupied, respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and halt all interventions targeting its security and stability.

They discussed regional developments and affirmed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation regarding them, supporting efforts aimed at ending the escalation, restoring calm, achieving sustainable security and stability, and reaching a comprehensive solution that addresses all causes of tension.
