King Meets President of the European Council

His Majesty King Abdullah II met today, Monday, with President of the European Council António Costa, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

His Majesty affirmed Jordan’s commitment to building on its strategic partnership with the European Union, expressing the Kingdom’s anticipation of hosting the Jordanian-European Investment Conference next November.

The meeting addressed the latest regional developments, with His Majesty stressing the need to intensify the international community’s efforts to reach a solution that ends the ongoing escalation and preserves the security and sovereignty of Arab countries.

His Majesty also warned of the seriousness of Israeli measures in the West Bank and Jerusalem, calling for support for the efforts of Lebanon and Syria to maintain their security and the safety of their citizens.

For his part, the President of the European Council expressed the European Union’s appreciation for its partnership with Jordan and its commitment to continuing to expand it across various fields, stressing the importance of the Kingdom’s role in working toward stability in the region.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty the King, Engineer Alaa Al-Batayneh.
