“More Exciting” – U.S. President Suggests Renaming the Strait of Hormuz the “Trump Strait”

Al-Taj News – U.S. President Donald Trump suggested on Wednesday renaming the Strait of Hormuz the “Trump Strait,” despite the waterway remaining a source of tension amid the war.

Trump said on his Truth Social platform: “Since it is now under the control of the United States, should we change the name of the Strait of Hormuz to the Trump Strait??? Like America itself, it will be more exciting than ever.”

Earlier Wednesday, the U.S. president said he was not trying to force Iran back to the negotiating table, stressing that signing a new agreement with Tehran was not a priority for him.

Trump added in a post on the X platform that the current situation was better than returning to negotiations, pointing to what he described as “almost complete control of the Strait of Hormuz,” while saying that the Iranian economy was “completely collapsing.”

He went on to say that Iran “is living through the final stage of an inevitability,” before asking: “When will the Iranian people rise up and fight?”

Trump’s remarks came after a wave of widespread U.S. strikes targeting Iranian military sites, as U.S. Central Command announced the completion of strikes on around 100 targets, including:

Radar systems

Air defense sites

Radar systems

Assets

Naval facilities

Mine-laying capabilities

Communications sites

Launchers for anti-ship cruise missiles and launchers for attack drones.

U.S. forces also targeted two oil tankers belonging to the Iranian government, in the first publicly announced use of the “tanker-for-tanker” policy, which a U.S. official said was aimed at deterring Iran from attacking oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

According to U.S. officials, the strikes also came as part of a plan to prevent Iran from rebuilding the radar and missile capabilities it needs to attack ships in the strait, while a U.S. official said the strikes had “bought at least a month” of reduced threat levels facing commercial vessels.

The confrontation continued with an Iranian response involving ballistic missiles and drones targeting U.S. sites and bases in the region, including Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Erbil, while countries in the region announced that they had intercepted Iranian attacks.

Amid the escalation, Trump warned Iran against responding to the U.S. strikes, saying it would face “much stronger” attacks if it responded again, threatening that Iran could be “completely wiped out as a country” if the response were repeated.
