Chinese Ambassador Expects Direct Flights Between Amman and Beijing to Launch Before Year-End

Al-Taj News – Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Jordan Huo Guowei expects direct flights between Amman and Beijing to be launched before the end of the year, considering that direct air connectivity would contribute to boosting tourism, investment and trade between the two countries.

Speaking during a press conference held at the embassy, the ambassador said that operating direct flights as soon as possible would contribute to increasing the number of Chinese tourists coming to Jordan, encouraging Chinese companies to come to the Kingdom, and strengthening their presence and investments there.

This comes after Royal Jordanian and Air China signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing on the sidelines of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to China, with the aim of strengthening the partnership between the two carriers and developing air connectivity between the two countries.

The memorandum allows for discussions on operating new air routes and exploring opportunities for codeshare arrangements and reciprocal transportation agreements, in addition to cooperation in the fields of training, ground services, air cargo and flight catering.

Chairman of the Board and CEO of Royal Jordanian Samer Al-Majali affirmed that the memorandum represents an important milestone in strengthening the national carrier’s presence in China and the Far East, while Air China Chairman Zhu Guangji said his company would provide “full support” to Royal Jordanian in launching direct nonstop flights between Amman and Beijing.

According to both sides, the move would contribute to enhancing tourism, business and cultural exchange, and supporting economic and trade relations between Jordan and China.
