Vocational Training Announces 11,000 Expected Job Opportunities in Two Projects in Jordan

Al-Taj News – Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation Raafat Al-Sawafeein said that the National Water Carrier and railway projects could provide around 11,000 job opportunities, at a time when the corporation is working to align its training programs with the needs of these projects and upcoming major national projects.

Al-Sawafeein explained that the corporation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labor, conducted a study to identify the occupations and skills required for these projects. The study concluded that around 58 occupations were needed, with training programs currently available for 39 of them at the Vocational Training Corporation or the Kingdom’s main training providers, including the College of Advanced Vocational Training “CAVT” and the National Employment and Training Company.

He added that the remaining 19 occupations will be developed by preparing new training programs and qualifying trainers to implement them, ensuring the availability of qualified personnel for the projects once implementation begins.

7,000 Job Opportunities in the Railway Project and 4,500 in the National Water Carrier

Al-Sawafeein explained that the estimates for job opportunities are based on international studies indicating that every $1 billion in investment can provide around 3,500 jobs, noting that investments of $2 billion in the railway project could provide around 7,000 job opportunities.

He added that the National Water Carrier project is expected to provide around 4,500 job opportunities, while the steel pipe factory that the government approved for establishment to serve water and gas projects is expected to provide around 420 job opportunities.

58 Occupations to Meet Project Needs

Al-Sawafeein affirmed that the Vocational Training Corporation is working to prepare for these projects by developing its programs and training its personnel in line with the needs of the labor market and upcoming investment projects.

He considered major national projects an opportunity to create new jobs for Jordanian youth, stressing the importance of preparing the required vocational workforce before these projects enter their implementation stages, thereby enhancing Jordanian youth’s benefit from the job opportunities they will provide.
