Artists Syndicate Boycotts Jordan Theater Festival in Its Current Edition .. And the Syndicate Head Resigns

Al-Taj News – The Jordanian Artists Syndicate issued a statement announcing its boycott of the Jordan Theater Festival in its current edition, and the resignation of the head of the Jordanian Artists Syndicate, Dr. Hani Al-Jarrah, from membership in the Higher Committee for Theater Festivals, in protest against what it described as procedural and organizational issues that accompanied preparations for the current edition of the festival.

Following is the text of the statement:

Proceeding from its national and syndical responsibility, and out of keenness for the dignity of the Jordanian artist and the stature of the national theater, the Jordanian Artists Syndicate affirms its profound dissatisfaction with the series of measures that accompanied preparations for the current edition of the Jordan Theater Festival, and the confusion that marred work mechanisms, conflict in decisions, and absence of clarity and transparency in the procedures for selecting participating performances and forming jury committees, which has raised legitimate questions in the theatrical community and weakened confidence in the integrity, fairness, and professionalism of the procedures.

The Syndicate affirms that, in its capacity as the professional and syndical representative of the Jordanian artist, and the house of artistic expertise comprising an elite of experienced and competent individuals across various fields of the arts, it was and remains a strategic partner of the Ministry of Culture, and one of the national institutions that contributed throughout its history to supporting the Jordanian cultural and artistic movement and ensuring the success of numerous national projects, festivals, and events.
