Security Source to “Al-Taj”: The Attack That Led to the Martyrdom of a Security Personnel in the Capital is a “Terrorist Act”

A member of the Public Security Directorate was martyred on Thursday following an attack with a sharp tool by an individual on Al-Madinah Street in the capital, Amman, while another security personnel was injured during the clash with the attacker and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Public Security announced the arrest of the attacker, after his attempt to seize the security officer’s weapon and stabbing him with a sharp tool.

A security source told “Al-Taj News” that initial indications point to the incident of stabbing a security officer in the capital carrying the suspicion of a terrorist act.

He pointed out that the perpetrator of the stabbing operation has prior criminal records for “terrorism offenses.”

He added that another security personnel intervened to engage with the attacker, and managed to subdue and arrest him; however, he sustained injuries requiring his transfer to the hospital, where his condition was described as critical.

Security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident to determine its circumstances and details.
