Al-Taj Media, Production and Artistic Distribution Company – Al-Taj News – intends to adopt a call addressed to both the Head of the Journalists Syndicate and Jordanian satellite channels, in addition to publishers of fellow media institutions and licensed press websites, as well as some fellow media professionals, for a meeting early next week to discuss the issue of sports interviews conducted inside and outside stadiums, amid observations related to impersonating a media professional and practices that could increase football fanaticism and stir up discord among fans.

The meeting aims to discuss the violations witnessed in some fan interviews during the Jordanian football league competitions, and to explore ways of dealing with them through a joint professional media position, including discussing the option of boycotting these interviews, or reaching an agreement on steps and demands to be submitted to the government to regulate the issue and implement the legislation governing media work.

This call comes as a continuation of previous positions announced by “Al-Taj News” regarding the necessity of addressing the phenomenon of impersonating a media professional, following the monitoring of interviews that lack professionalism and responsibility and may contribute to inflaming the sports scene and increasing fanaticism, going beyond the limits of sports coverage to consequences affecting societal peace.

Earlier, “Al-Taj” had submitted an official complaint to a number of relevant authorities, calling for the regulation of interviews conducted inside and outside stadiums by individuals who do not work under the umbrella of licensed Jordanian media institutions. It emphasized that the pursuit of views and engagement does not justify violating regulations and laws or publishing content that may lead to stirring up discord among fans.
