Qatar’s Emir: The Region Is Going Through One of Its Most Dangerous Phases, and Crises Are the Result of Unrealistic Solutions

Al-Taj News – Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said on Tuesday that the region is going through one of its most dangerous phases, noting that the crisis in the region is the result of years of postponement and unrealistic solutions.

Al Thani added, during the meetings of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, that the way to resolve disputes is through dialogue and negotiations, stressing that Qatar has remained a trusted mediator that warns that time does not resolve pending disputes, but rather increases their costs.

He pointed out that the essence of what the region is witnessing is the absence of collective regional security that encourages the resolution of disputes through peaceful means, stressing that Qatar remains convinced that the Gulf crisis can be resolved through diplomatic means.

The Emir of Qatar stressed that the opportunity for a peaceful diplomatic solution must not be missed, saying, “For us, wisdom and firmness are two sides of the same coin.”

He affirmed that what happened in Gaza is “a stain of shame on the conscience of all humanity,” noting that Israeli leaders have begun openly stating that the most appropriate solution is to displace the residents of Gaza, which they call “migration.”

He explained that his country has not stopped, since the first day, making mediation efforts in Gaza until an agreement was reached to cease the fighting.

He said: “We fear that those who consider displacement a solution will obstruct everything that would facilitate the lives of the people of Gaza.”
