Trump Open to Meeting Pezeshkian as International Efforts Underway in New York to End the War

Al-Taj News – U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz revealed that President Donald Trump is open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is arriving in New York today, Tuesday, to participate in the United Nations General Assembly meetings, pledging to firmly defend his country’s positions, as international efforts are underway to resume negotiations between the two countries and restore maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

In remarks to the U.S. network CNN, Waltz said that President Trump is “always open” to diplomacy and negotiations with Iran, adding that the question is whether Tehran is prepared to sit down directly with U.S. officials.

The U.S. ambassador added in his remarks that continued uncertainty over who speaks on behalf of Iran’s Supreme Leader remains an ongoing problem.

Trump is expected to begin delivering a speech today, Tuesday, before the assembled delegates, before meeting with at least 11 world leaders, either bilaterally or collectively.
