Rubio: We Are Open to Holding a Meeting with Iran at the United Nations

Al-Taj News – The United States expressed openness to holding a meeting with Iran in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, coinciding with Tehran granting its delegation in the city full authority to revive the diplomatic track and negotiate an end to hostilities.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington is open to holding a meeting with Iranian officials at the United Nations, while a senior Iranian official said that his country’s delegation in New York has been given full authority to revive diplomacy with the United States.

In contrast, an Iranian official ruled out a meeting between President Masoud Pezeshkian and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump, while considering that progress toward an agreement remains possible.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed that diplomacy does not mean surrender, describing negotiations as “another battlefield.”

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps also announced its readiness to negotiate if national interests require it, while affirming that the military institution will not engage in communication with the United States.

The Revolutionary Guard warned that any U.S. or Israeli strike would be met with multiple responses on different fronts and through different means, and said its assessments indicate that Washington and Tel Aviv are not prepared to enter a new war, while at the same time affirming its readiness for any escalation.
