King Meets Cypriot President and Duke of Luxembourg in New York

His Majesty King Abdullah II held two meetings on Monday with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and His Royal Highness Prince Guillaume, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York.

In the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, His Majesty discussed the depth of the friendly relations between Jordan and Cyprus and Luxembourg, affirming the commitment to strengthening cooperation across various fields.

Discussing the latest developments in the region, His Majesty stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to restore de-escalation and supporting the efforts of Syria and Lebanon to preserve their security, sovereignty, and the safety of their citizens.

His Majesty warned of the danger of Israel’s attempts to exploit the conditions in the region to impose a new reality in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza, noting that the continuation of escalatory measures against Palestinians threatens to exacerbate the crisis.

His Majesty stressed the need to fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and establish their independent state in accordance with the two-state solution, commending Luxembourg’s recognition of the State of Palestine.

The two meetings were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Director of the Office of His Majesty the King, Engineer Alaa Al-Batayneh.
