Pezeshkian: We Do Not Want War or Its Continuation, and Peace Is Our Priority

Al-Taj News – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Saturday that the Middle East does not need a “policeman,” referring to the United States, which launched a war against Tehran alongside Israel in February.

Speaking during a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of a BRICS summit in New Delhi, Pezeshkian said, “We do not need a policeman for the region,” adding that “the territorial integrity and security of the region can only be guaranteed by its main parties and the countries that make it up.”

According to the Iranian presidency’s website, Pezeshkian stressed, “Despite all the injustice our people have suffered, we do not want war or its continuation,” affirming that “peace remains our priority.”

The war broke out when the United States and Israel launched a wave of strikes against Iran on February 28, and Tehran responded by closing the Strait of Hormuz, vital to global energy supplies and maritime trade, prompting Washington to impose a blockade on Iran’s ports.
