Baghdad Sets Date for Withdrawal of International Coalition Forces and Confirms End of Its Presence in Iraq

Al-Taj News – Spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces Sabah Al-Nu’man affirmed Baghdad’s strict and precise commitment to the set date for the withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraq.

Al-Nu’man reiterated that the withdrawal of international coalition forces will be completed on the scheduled date of September 30, reflecting the state’s sovereignty and the independence of its national decision-making.

Regarding the issue of weapons, the military spokesman stressed the Iraqi government’s clear position on regulating weapons and restricting their possession to the state, as well as integrating armed formations under the umbrella of the legitimate state.

He explained that the legitimacy enjoyed by these weapons stems from the national and historic role played by the armed factions and formations in supporting the security establishment and safeguarding the country.

Al-Nu’man affirmed that “the weapons that protected the land” will not be marginalized, but will inevitably come under the legitimate umbrella of the state, noting that members of these formations will be honored and their sacrifices recognized, within a national vision aimed at strengthening the rule of law and building a unified and strong national security institution.
