Israeli Occupation Forces Bulldoze Agricultural Land in Southern Syria

Al-Taj News – Israeli occupation forces continued on Sunday to bulldoze agricultural land west of Al-Hanout Farm in the southern Quneitra countryside in southern Syria, as part of completing what is known as the “Sufa 53” line, which the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned and considered a flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and a blatant breach of international legitimacy resolutions.

The Syrian Arab News Agency “SANA” reported that the bulldozing operations aim to establish an earthen embankment that includes agricultural land owned by Syrians, noting the presence of large areas of agricultural land west of the embankment, which residents fear may be affected by these operations.

Israeli occupation forces had bulldozed approximately 13 dunams planted with olive trees in the Al-Hanout area, belonging to the village of Saida in the southern Quneitra countryside, on October 18 of this month, and prevented residents from reaching the rest of their fields in the area to harvest the olive crop.

Syria condemned the completion of work on “Sufa 53,” considering it a flagrant violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and a blatant breach of international legitimacy resolutions. It affirmed its commitment to its full sovereignty over its territories, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities in safeguarding the sovereignty of states and the sanctity of their borders.
