US Official: American Strikes on Iranian Targets Are Still Ongoing

Al-Taj News – A US official said that American strikes on Iranian targets are still ongoing, noting that US forces targeted Iranian tankers linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in response to attempts to attack a US Navy vessel.

“Fox News” quoted the official as saying that the tankers were targeted as part of the response to those attempts, at a time when the military escalation between Washington and Tehran in the region continues.

In a related development, a spokesperson for US Central Command said that an unmanned submarine belonging to the US military malfunctioned more than a day ago while on a mission to monitor territorial waters, denying that it was collecting sensitive data or carrying classified equipment.

The spokesperson explained that the submarine was not carrying classified equipment, while “Reuters” quoted a US official as saying that the submarine was an older model and did not contain classified sonar or radar equipment.

The US statements came after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced the seizure of an unmanned US submarine at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, in an incident Tehran said resulted from an intelligence operation carried out by its naval forces.
