More Than 140 Killed in Clashes Between Yemeni Forces and Houthis Since Saturday

Al-Taj News – Clashes in Yemen between government forces and Iran-backed Houthis killed more than 140 people between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, according to sources from both sides.

Two military sources from the government forces told Agence France-Presse that 84 of their members were killed during the fighting. For their part, four sources from the Houthi side reported that 57 of their members were killed during the same period.

The fighting, the fiercest in years, erupted after the Houthis launched a ground offensive on Thursday, accompanied by missile and drone strikes on coastal areas overlooking the Red Sea and areas around Taiz, in an attempt to advance toward areas adjacent to the Bab al-Mandab Strait that are controlled by the government.
