Egypt – 16 Killed and 28 Injured in Bus Accident in South Sinai

Al-Taj News – The Egyptian Ministry of Health said that 16 people were killed and 28 others injured in a passenger bus rollover accident in South Sinai Governorate on Wednesday morning.

According to the statement, the accident occurred on the road linking the cities of Dahab and Nuweiba, while 20 ambulances were dispatched to the accident site, and the injured were transported to receive the necessary medical care.

South Sinai Governorate is a popular tourist destination and is home to many resorts overlooking the Red Sea.

Last month, 15 people were killed and 32 others injured in a traffic accident in Egypt’s Ismailia Governorate.

According to data issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, the number of fatalities from road accidents in the country, including car and train accidents, increased by 10.8% in 2025, reaching 5,829 deaths, compared with 5,260 deaths in 2024.

Experts attribute road accidents in Egypt to the poor condition of some roads, deteriorating vehicles, and failure to comply with driving rules, while officials maintain that human error is the primary cause of accidents, amid extensive efforts by the authorities to develop the road and railway networks.
