King on Syria: Israel’s Expansionist Ambitions Have Become a Regional Threat

Al-Taj News – His Majesty King Abdullah II warned on Tuesday of the continuation of Israel’s approach in southern Syria, affirming that any threat to Jordan’s northern borders or water security constitutes a threat to the Kingdom’s national security.

In an address before the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Majesty said that the Israeli government’s expansionist ambitions have become a regional threat, warning that Syria today represents “a warning that the international community is choosing not to heed.”

The King pointed to repeated incursions, geographic expansion, and the imposition of new realities on the ground in Syria, “including some that affect vital water sources.”

His Majesty said that Israel, “one calculated step after another,” is testing how far it can continue, adding that every time the international community looks the other way, Israel concludes that it can go further and cross geographical boundaries and laws.
