Hassan Chairs Meeting to Discuss the Sustainability of Supply and Distribution Chains in Aqaba and at Border Crossings
Al-Taj News – Prime Minister Jafar Hassan chaired on Sunday a meeting attended by ministers, officials, and private-sector representatives to discuss the sustainability of supply and distribution chains and the facilitation of procedures at the ports of Aqaba and border crossings, in cooperation with the private sector, amid the circumstances unfolding in the region.
During the meeting, Hassan stressed the need to continue effective coordination and partnership among all relevant entities and the private sector, and to take the necessary measures and steps to ensure the efficient and smooth movement of goods through the ports of Aqaba and various border crossings.
The meeting reviewed the state of operations at the ports of Aqaba, which are operating as a highly efficient regional logistics hub at full operational capacity and are witnessing growing interest from countries and global companies, in addition to a notable increase in shipping operations, amid competitive handling times, ensuring the smooth movement and transportation of goods.
The meeting also reviewed the state of operations at various border crossings, as well as available logistical plans and alternatives for dealing with the repercussions of the current circumstances, in a manner that ensures the efficient sustainability of supply and distribution chains and the availability of various essential goods and materials in the local market.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh; Minister of Transport and Minister of Labour Nidal Al-Qatamin; Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Al-Momani; Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah; Director General of Customs Major General Ahmad Al-Akalik; CEO of the Aqaba Development Corporation Hussein Al-Safadi; Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Shadi Al-Majali; and representatives of the Amman Chamber of Commerce and the private sector.
