New Jordanian field hospital personnel in southern Gaza begin receiving patients
AMMAN — New staff of the Jordanian field hospital in Southern Gaza began receiving patients and visitors on Monday to provide medical and therapeutic services aimed at easing the suffering of people in Gaza and offering them assistance amid the humanitarian and medical conditions in the Strip.
The hospital force commander said that the hospital’s operations come in implementation of Royal directives and embody Jordan’s steadfast position in supporting people in the Gaza Strip by providing them with medical, therapeutic and humanitarian care and alleviating their suffering, according to a Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) statement.
He stressed that hospital personnel would continue to perform their duties with dedication and discipline.
The hospital director said that the medical, nursing and allied health teams, who have extensive experience, are performing their duties with efficiency and professionalism.
He noted that immediately after arriving, the teams began all necessary technical and logistical preparations to launch the hospital’s operations and are ready to receive patients.
The hospital has specialised clinics, including general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, dermatology, intensive care, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, paediatric and neonatal surgery, plastic and burn surgery, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, as well as a mobile prosthetic limb support unit.
The former staff of the hospital served 35,000 patients during their deployment, performed 668 major and minor surgeries and fitted 214 upper and lower prosthetic limbs.
Jordan operates two field hospitals in Gaza, one in the north established in 2009 and the Khan Younis facility established in November 2023, alongside a hospital in Nablus, a land bridge for aid, a mobile bakery, the Restoring Hope Initiative for prosthetics, and medical evacuations to Kingdom hospitals.
