Meta Shares Gain $192 Billion in One Day, While “Greenland” Stocks Soar

Al-Taj News –

The major US stock indexes closed broadly higher in a strong Monday session, driven by a broad rally led by the technology sector, supported by a decline in yields on benchmark US Treasury bonds from elevated levels to below 5%, alongside falling oil prices.

Brent crude prices fell to their lowest level in nearly two weeks amid speculation that a breakthrough could occur in Middle East talks this week, after President Trump said he was open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York this week.

Performance of Major US Indexes:

The Dow Jones rose 0.7%, or 366 points, on Monday, recovering the 52,000-point level.

The S&P 500 also rose 1.5%, recording its strongest daily gain in seven weeks. The Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.3%, posting a new record close after ending above 27,100 points for the first time in its history.

Advanced Micro Devices shares jumped 10% to close at an all-time high, making it the latest chipmaker to reach a market capitalization of $1 trillion.

Despite the strong gains in US stocks, investors remain cautious about the interest-rate outlook, with the FedWatch tool indicating that traders see a 55% probability of another rate hike in October, compared with a 9% probability a month ago.
