
Al-Taj News – The New Cairo Criminal Court ruled today, Saturday, in the presence of the defendants and unanimously, and after obtaining the opinion of the Grand Mufti of the Republic, to sentence media personality Sarah Khalifa and 12 others to death by hanging for allegedly importing, manufacturing, and trafficking in narcotic substances.
Investigations in Case No. 6838 of 2025, First Settlement Felonies, revealed that the gang was led by Doreid Abdel Latif Al-Samrani, an Iraqi national, and “Sameh .M”, an Egyptian national residing in Al-Gamaleya, both of whom are fugitives, in addition to “Fathy .K”, the owner of an import office in Bulaq, television presenter Sarah Khalifa, and “Khaled .F”, the owner of a contracting company.
The investigating officer testified that the first through third defendants used others to manufacture and produce the narcotic substances intended for trafficking. After they began implementing their plan, the fourth and fifth defendants joined them, knowing the purpose behind forming the organization and taking on roles in its management.
They also recruited all the remaining defendants, from the sixth through the twenty-eighth, to participate in roles aimed at carrying out the organization’s intended activities.
The investigations added that the fourth defendant, “Sarah Khalifa”, was responsible for providing the necessary funds and traveling abroad to hold meetings with the first and second defendants to coordinate between them and the rest of the organization’s members. Following the contracting for and purchase of these substances, defendants 21 through 28 would bring those substances into the country.
