Harry Kane Combines the Ballon d’Or and the Best Striker in the World Award for the Year 2026

Al-Taj News – The Englishman Harry Kane, striker for Germany’s Bayern Munich, won the Ballon d’Or award for the best player in the world for the year 2026, for the first time in his career, alongside the Gerd Müller Trophy for best men’s striker, during the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony held on Monday evening in the British capital, London.

Kane, aged 33, was crowned with the most prominent individual award in world football after delivering a season packed with goals and achievements with Bayern Munich and the English national team, becoming the first English player to win the Ballon d’Or since his compatriot Michael Owen in 2001.

The award was presented to Kane by the former Brazilian star Ronaldo, a two-time Ballon d’Or winner in 1997 and 2002, during the ceremony held at the London Palladium theater, in the 70th edition of the Ballon d’Or awards.

The English striker surpassed a group of the most prominent stars of world football, as the list of the ten final nominees included the Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, the Spaniard Lamine Yamal, the Argentine Lionel Messi, the Spaniard Rodri, the Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the Frenchman Michael Olise, the Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, the Norwegian Erling Haaland, and the Spaniard Fabián Ruiz.

Kane’s crowning came after he scored 73 goals with Bayern Munich and the English national team during the 2025–2026 season, including 61 goals with the German club and 12 goals with his national team, across 65 matches.
