Al-Taj News – The Egyptian Parliament postponed on Monday the vote on authorizing President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to provide military support to Saudi Arabia if requested to do so by one week, with the House of Representatives set to resume discussions at a session on October 26 of this month.
The State Information Service (an official body specializing in communicating with foreign media) said in a brief statement on its social media platforms, “The House of Representatives’ plenary session has been adjourned and will resume next Monday to continue discussions on the president’s request for authorization to support Saudi Arabia.”
The House of Representatives held an emergency session on Sunday at the request of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who said on Saturday that “Egypt will implement any measure to protect Saudi Arabia” and called on Parliament to hold an emergency session to approve authorizing him to take this action. The House of Representatives announced on Sunday that the session would continue today.
