Real Madrid Issues Statement Following Heavy Loss to Atlético Madrid

Al-Taj News – Real Madrid issued a statement in which it launched a scathing attack on the refereeing team that officiated the derby against Atlético Madrid, asserting that the team was subjected to what it described as “disastrous” refereeing decisions.

In its statement, the Spanish club criticized referee Ortiz Arias, considering that his decisions directly affected the course of the match, which ended with Real Madrid losing 2-1 to Atlético Madrid in the seventh round of the Spanish La Liga.

Real Madrid said in its statement: “Real Madrid lost a match characterized by the decisions of Ortiz Arias, who overlooked sending off Atlético’s duo Romero and Kang-in Lee in the first half.”

The club added in its statement: “Real Madrid lost a derby at the Metropolitano Stadium, marred by disastrous refereeing decisions from Ortiz Arias, who did not send off Cristian Romero in the first half for stepping on Jude Bellingham’s knee, despite reviewing the incident on the VAR screen, nor Kang-in Lee for stepping on Valverde’s left ankle. The two decisions were decisive, and the match was ultimately decided in Atlético Madrid’s favor in the second half.”
