Prince Hassan Receives French Parliamentary Delegation and Discusses the Future of Regional Planning in the Levant
Al-Taj News – His Royal Highness Prince Hassan bin Talal received on Wednesday a delegation from the French Parliament, comprising the head and members of the French-Jordanian Friendship Group, where a number of regional and international issues of common interest were discussed, as well as ways to strengthen Jordanian-French cooperation and dialogue.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness stressed the importance of reconsidering the concept of regional planning and the management of geographic space in the Levant, based on the human being, their dignity, rights, and basic needs, pointing to the need to adopt comprehensive development approaches that respond to the needs of nearly 300 million people living in the countries of the Levant.
The Prince stressed the importance of moving toward a more integrated regional vision in addressing issues of development, resources, and populations, in a way that strengthens interconnection among the countries of the region and contributes to building a more stable and just future, affirming that planning for the future must be based on safeguarding human dignity and enhancing opportunities for participation and sustainable development.
His Royal Highness also discussed developments in the Palestinian issue and the situation in the Levant, particularly in light of the continued expansion of settlements and the repercussions of refugee and displacement crises, stressing the importance of viewing these challenges within a comprehensive regional framework that takes into account the interconnected humanitarian, political, and developmental dimensions.
The meeting also touched on European policy toward Palestine and the region, and the importance of developing a more comprehensive approach that contributes to supporting regional stability, addressing the roots of crises, and enhancing opportunities for cooperation and dialogue among the various parties.
For their part, the members of the French delegation expressed their appreciation for the role played by Jordan in the region and France’s interest in continuing to strengthen its support for and cooperation with the Kingdom, including in the field of water resources management and addressing water scarcity challenges.
