Saudi Arabia Condemns Targeting of Pipeline and Gives Iraq an Opportunity to Prevent Attacks

Al-Taj News – Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the targeting of the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions by several drones coming from Iraq, which resulted in injuries and some damage that is currently being addressed.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press statement on Friday evening: “Saudi Arabia clarifies that, based on the request of the Prime Minister of Iraq to give the Iraqi government an opportunity to take measures to prevent attacks launched from Iraqi territory toward the Kingdom and neighboring countries, the Kingdom has chosen not to respond at this stage and to support the efforts of the Iraqi government.”

Saudi Arabia affirmed that it reserves the right to take all measures necessary to protect its sovereignty, security, facilities, citizens, and residents.

In the same context, the Saudi Ministry of Energy announced on Friday that it had precautionarily shut down the East-West Pipeline after it was targeted in the Riyadh and Medina regions on Thursday.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing a responsible source at the Ministry of Energy, reported that “the East-West Pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions was subjected to several attacks on Thursday morning. The pipeline was precautionarily shut down, and the attacks resulted in some injuries, with medical care provided to those injured.”
