Lebanese President from Nabatieh: No Negotiations with Israel and the State Will Not Abandon the South

Al-Taj News – Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced on Saturday that there are currently no new negotiations with Israel, during an unannounced visit he made to the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon, accompanied by Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Heikal.

During his statements in Nabatieh, Aoun stressed that withdrawal, the return of prisoners and displaced people, and reconstruction are national constants, pledging to implement them.

The visit came amid concerns among Nabatieh residents over the escalation of Israeli raids and explosions, particularly following the massive demolition operations witnessed in the Ali Al-Taher Heights and the town of Mansouri, in addition to threats by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.

Aoun inspected the military units deployed in Nabatieh and toured the city to assess the damage and listen to residents’ complaints.

He said that the reason for his visit to Nabatieh, accompanied by the heads of the security agencies and the Lebanese Army commander, was to affirm that the state is “by your side,” and to discuss securing all services for residents so that they remain in the area and ensuring their safety.

Aoun stressed that “it is our duty to remain by your side, and we will never abandon you,” affirming that the state will not abandon the south and will stand by all its citizens.

Aoun’s visit came after Israel announced on Friday its readiness to carry out further strikes against Hezbollah at new locations, following a large-scale operation to destroy the group’s underground infrastructure at the Ali Al-Taher hill.
