World Bank: Jordan Exceeds Social Protection Targets Ahead of 2029

Al-Taj News – A recent World Bank report showed that Jordan has made notable progress in implementing the “Resilient and Sustainable Social Protection” program, exceeding the final targets set for 2029 in a number of performance indicators, particularly in non-cash social services, productive inclusion, and the professionalization of social work.

According to the latest report on the implementation of the program, the number of beneficiaries receiving at least one non-cash social service reached 59,007 people as of June 2026, compared with a final target of 20,000 beneficiaries by March 2029.

The number of women benefiting from non-cash services also reached 33,797 women, compared with a final target of 10,000, while the number of young people benefiting reached 41,014, compared with a target of 20,000.

In the area of productive inclusion, the number of beneficiaries of training, employment, and economic empowerment programs rose to 3,071, exceeding the final target of 2,000 beneficiaries, while the number of women beneficiaries reached 1,359, compared with a target of 500 women.

Within the framework of professionalizing social work and enhancing capacities, the report showed that 1,296 social workers had been accredited and licensed as of last June, exceeding the final target of 1,000 social workers by the end of the program.

The World Bank indicated that this progress prompted the program team to move toward updating the targets during the upcoming midterm review, reflecting results achieved at a faster pace than originally planned.

Meanwhile, the number of beneficiaries of various cash interventions reached around 950,000 people, compared with a final target of 1.2 million people by 2029, while the number of households covered by the National Aid Fund’s Unified Cash Transfer Program reached 210,837 households as of June 2026.
