King Attends Event Marking the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence
Al-Taj News – His Majesty King Abdullah II today, Monday, attended an event held at the Royal Cultural Center to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence, during which the upcoming cycle of the Center’s awards for 2026-2028 was launched.
During the event, His Majesty honored a number of figures in recognition of their contributions to the Center’s journey and their role in developing its work. His Majesty conferred the King Abdullah II Medal for Excellence, First Class, upon His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Trustees.
His Majesty also honored the former Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the late Dr. Fayez Al-Tarawneh, as well as the Center’s former executive directors, Yasira Ghousheh and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Rawabdeh.
In remarks during the event, Marwan Jumaa, Deputy Chairman of the Center’s Board of Trustees, spoke about the Center’s achievements and its nearly 20-year journey, as well as its role in realizing modernization visions in partnership with relevant entities.
Jumaa said that the new cycle of the award is based on developing excellence standards, performance evaluation, capacity building, and enhancing impact to entrench a culture of excellence, improve performance, and strengthen decision-making in institutions.
For her part, the Center’s Executive Director, Engineer Widad Qteishat, said that the cycle has expanded its targets to include the public and private sectors and universities, in order to support the qualification of graduates capable of meeting labor market requirements.
She added that the new cycle of the award will adopt updated models and standards that take into account the ability of institutions and individuals to adapt to changes and respond to citizens’ needs, while improving their experience through traditional and digital service delivery channels.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi, Director of the King’s Office Engineer Alaa Al-Batayneh, and a number of senior civilian and military officials.
