96 Child Labor Cases Detected in Jordan During the First Half of 2026

Al-Taj News – The Child Labor Reduction Inspection Department at the Ministry of Labor dealt with 96 child labor cases during the first half of 2026, including two cases involving females and 94 involving males, according to data from the Central Inspection Directorate.

According to the daily Al-Ghad, the child labor cases by nationality included 73 Jordanian children, 18 Syrian children, two Egyptian children, in addition to 3 children of other nationalities.

The data showed that the number of establishments inspected under the department’s jurisdiction reached 2,198 establishments during the same period, as part of inspection campaigns and field visits to follow up on and monitor cases of child employment.

During the first half of the year, the ministry recorded 35 violations against employers, in addition to issuing 109 warnings, 73 of which were rectified, as part of measures to monitor compliance with the provisions of the Labor Law related to child labor.

The Ministry of Labor continues to implement inspection and awareness programs to reduce child labor, as part of a policy of zero tolerance toward the employment of children, in cooperation with relevant partner entities.
