Meteorological Department Settles It: No Heavy Rainfall Expected in Jordan

Al-Taj News – Weather forecaster at the Meteorological Department, Musaed Al-Naddaf, said Saturday that there are so far no indications of heavy rainfall as part of the atmospheric instability expected to affect Jordan on Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Al-Naddaf told “Al-Mamlaka” that rainfall will be concentrated in the governorates of Ajloun, Irbid and Al-Ramtha, the Northern Jordan Valley, parts of the Central Jordan Valley, the city of Salt, as well as the western parts of the capital, Amman.

He noted that the atmospheric instability will be accompanied by westerly winds that will become active at times and stir up dust in the eastern parts of the Kingdom, including the areas of Safawi, Al-Azraq and Al-Ruwaished, as well as the eastern parts of Amman and the Desert Highway.

He warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to dust, particularly in the Badia areas, and of fog forming in the high mountainous areas. He also warned of slippery roads during rainfall.

Al-Naddaf pointed out that the atmospheric instability is short-lived and will not last long, explaining that from the afternoon hours of Sunday, the weather will tend toward gradual stabilization, with stable conditions expected on Monday.

During the night hours of Saturday, the Kingdom will be affected by a weak atmospheric instability, with increasing cloud cover at various altitudes. The weather will be mild in the mountainous highlands and moderate in the rest of the areas, with a possibility of light rain showers in the north of the Kingdom during the late night hours.

According to the Meteorological Department’s report, temperatures will drop further on Sunday. The weather will be partly cloudy and moderate in most areas, and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with a chance during the morning hours of rain showers in the north of the Kingdom and parts of the western central areas, which may occasionally be accompanied by thunder in the north of the Kingdom.

Westerly winds will be moderate in speed, becoming active from time to time and occasionally stirring up dust, particularly in the Badia areas.

On Monday, temperatures will rise slightly. The weather will be moderately warm and summer-like in most areas, and relatively hot in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, with some low-level clouds appearing in the north of the Kingdom. Winds will be northwesterly and moderate in speed, becoming active at times.
