Barcelona have reached a final agreement with Manchester City to sign Spanish midfield captain and star player Rodri, in a deal described as one of the club’s most prominent transfers of the 21st century in terms of its sporting and fan appeal.
According to reliable sports sources, including renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano and Mundo Deportivo, Manchester City have given the green light to accept the latest offer submitted by Barcelona’s management.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but The Athletic reported that it amounts to €76.8 million.
Romano wrote on his X account: “Agreement reached for the Spanish midfielder to move from Manchester City to Barcelona, with everything done for the former Ballon d’Or winner. Manchester City have given the green light to Barcelona’s latest offer.”
Romano said that the 30-year-old Rodri will sign a four-year contract with Barcelona next week, running until June 2030. Barcelona have already begun planning Rodri’s travel and medical examinations.
