Amazon Cargo Plane Overshoots Miami Airport Runway and Catches Fire

Al-Taj News – An Amazon cargo plane overshot a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday before coming to a stop at the airport’s northwestern end, while circulating photos and videos showed thick clouds of black smoke rising from the aircraft.

According to Reuters, the Boeing 767 cargo plane operated by Prime Air overshot the runway at around 2 p.m. local time, prompting airport authorities to close all runways and taxiways and suspend aircraft movement on the ground.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said the plane had been arriving in Florida from San Juan, Puerto Rico, confirming that it would investigate the incident.

Collision With Vehicles

Agence France-Presse reported, citing officials, that the plane collided with vehicles after overshooting the runway and caught fire.

The Associated Press reported that the plane came to a stop next to a road, while circulating photos showed two large trucks near the aircraft, as clouds of smoke rose from the scene of the incident.

No official information was immediately available on whether there were any injuries or fatalities, according to Reuters.

Miami International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the United States. The incident brought aircraft movement on the ground to a halt and led to the closure of runways and taxiways, pending efforts to deal with the aircraft and the start of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding its runway overrun.
