Al-Taj News – Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is seeking to settle Al-Nassr Club’s debts, which amount to around 800 million riyals (approximately $213 million), in preparation for selling a majority stake in the club, where Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo plays, according to a report published by the American website Semafor on Monday.
The website quoted informed sources as saying that U.S. group RedBird Capital, which owns Italian club AC Milan, has held at least two meetings with the Saudi fund to discuss acquiring a 70% stake in Al-Nassr, in cooperation with other investors, for around one billion riyals (approximately $267 million).
The sources explained that the proposed ownership structure includes Ronaldo receiving a 20% stake, with the possibility of Saudi Media Company (SMC), which specializes in media, sports, and entertainment, joining the investment consortium.
However, negotiations remain at an early stage, and the parties have not reached a final agreement on the terms of the deal, while a source close to the fund warned that it might not be completed.
