“Tyranny Does Not Create Legitimacy” .. Are Israeli Ambitions Turning into a Direct Threat to Jordanian Security?

Al-Taj News –
Haneen Zubaideh. During the Speech from the Throne at the opening of the third ordinary session of the twentieth National Assembly, His Majesty King Abdullah II reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast stance in continuing its Hashemite approach to defending the Palestinian cause and Arab issues, stressing the rejection of Israeli expansionist ambitions and the threat they pose to the future of the region and its stability, saying: “Whoever thinks that tyranny grants legitimacy.. is delusional, and whoever thinks that time erases the truth.. is delusional,” in a message that addressed attempts to impose a new reality on the ground and confirmed the continuation of the Jordanian stance toward Palestinian rights.

In this context, the former diplomat and Jordanian ambassador to Israel, Ziad Al-Majali, affirmed that His Majesty the King’s emphasis on the danger of Israeli expansionist ambitions during the Speech from the Throne reflects what the region is witnessing in terms of actions by the Israeli extreme right, in light of the continuation of military operations in Lebanon, and attempts to penetrate Syrian territory, alongside developments in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Ambitions Exceed Gaza.. and the Extreme Right Bets on Continuing the War
Al-Majali said in statements to “Al-Taj News” that the royal messages regarding Israel were clear in warning that violating the rules of international law and persisting in military operations cannot establish rights or impose a new reality in the region, pointing out that these messages are directed to the Israeli voter and decision-makers in Israel, as well as the countries that support it, specifically the American administration.

He added that His Majesty the King spoke about Israeli expansionist ambitions in light of what has become clear from the actions of the extreme right, whether through attempting to foil the twentieth plan of US President Donald Trump, or military operations in Lebanon, and the attempt to penetrate Syrian territory under the pretext of dealing with the Druze of Syria, stressing that these practices threaten the region and its future.

He indicated that Jordan was awaiting the emergence of a new face for Israel following the elections, allowing room to talk once again about the possibility of achieving peace, but the extreme right in Israel seeks the continuation of military operations, considering that sustaining the life of the current Israeli government depends on the existence of these operations.

“Tyranny Does Not Create Legitimacy”.. The King’s Message to Israel and Its Supporters
Regarding His Majesty the King’s phrase: “Whoever thinks that tyranny grants legitimacy.. is delusional, and whoever thinks that time erases the truth.. is delusional,” Al-Majali explained during his interview with “Al-Taj” that the royal message confirms that persisting in military operations and violating the rules of international law does not lead to the creation of new rights or the imposition of a different reality on the ground.

He pointed out that His Majesty the King directs this message to the Israeli voter and decision-makers in Israel, and to the parties that support the Israeli government, particularly in countries around the world and the US administration, to emphasize that what applies to Israel’s actions in Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza applies anywhere else, and that tyranny and the violation of international law cannot grant legitimacy to any new reality.

Warning of Soft Displacement.. Do Violations Extend to the Peace Treaty?
Al-Majali pointed out that the royal messages also included a warning against Israel’s attempts to violate the Jordanian-Israeli peace treaty, by contriving conditions that lead to what is spoken of as soft displacement, and creating conditions that force Palestinians to leave their lands, as is currently happening in the West Bank, and as happened previously in the Gaza Strip.

“Water, Water, Water”.. Israeli Moves in Southern Syria Threaten the Headwaters of the Yarmouk
In a related context, Al-Majali told “Al-Taj” that His Majesty the King’s emphasis on the importance of water during the Speech from the Throne, and his repetition of the phrase “water, water, water,” carries an indirect message to the Israeli side, in light of the impact of its moves in southern Syria on the headwaters of the Yarmouk River, which constitutes a danger to Jordanian interests.
