His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, during his visit to the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ (Al-Maghtas) today, Monday, directed improvements to the experience of Christian pilgrims and visitors to the site.
During the visit, which was accompanied by His Royal Highness Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Adviser to His Majesty the King for Religious and Cultural Affairs, His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Baptism Site Commission, His Royal Highness reviewed the services provided to pilgrims and visitors.
The Crown Prince stressed the importance of planning for preparations to commemorate the second millennium of the baptism of Jesus Christ in 2030 in a manner that reflects the historical significance of the occasion and the site, and affirms the Kingdom’s position as a global destination for Christian pilgrimage.
His Royal Highness pointed to the need to further promote the Baptism Site of Jesus Christ, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Jordan Tourism Board, and all partners.
The Crown Prince was accompanied during the visit by Her Royal Highness Princess Miriam Ghazi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hijazin, Director of the Crown Prince’s Office Dr. Zaid Al-Baqaeen, and Director General of the Baptism Site Commission Abdullah Al-Bawareed.
