King Stresses the Need to Expedite the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Committee on Judicial Development
Al-Taj News – His Majesty King Abdullah II today, Monday, received the two annual reports on the work of the Judicial Authority and the Sharia Courts for 2025, separately.
During his meeting with Judicial Council President Mahmoud Al-Ababneh and upon receiving the annual report on the conditions of the regular courts, administrative judiciary, and Public Prosecution, His Majesty stressed the importance of continuing to develop the judicial system, particularly the economic chambers, to encourage investment.
His Majesty highlighted the need to expedite the implementation of the recommendations of the Committee for Following Up on the Development of the Judicial System, which worked on reviewing legislation governing judicial work as well as infrastructure and technology.
The report on the conditions of the regular courts stated that around 394,000 cases, representing approximately 85% of the total cases before the judiciary, had been adjudicated, while more than 34 million dinars had been collected.
The number of judgments implementing alternatives to custodial sentences and alternatives to detention exceeded 3,500 judgments, while the number of judgments applying non-custodial measures in juvenile justice exceeded 6,700 judgments.
His Majesty the King also met with Chief Justice of the Sharia Courts, His Eminence Dr. Abdulhafiz Al-Rabta, and President of the Supreme Sharia Court, His Eminence Judge Dr. Kamal Al-Samadi, and received the annual report on the conditions of the Sharia Courts and the conduct of their work.
His Majesty commended the efforts of the Sharia Courts in raising the level of Sharia justice and the services provided to citizens, as well as developing electronic services.
According to the report, the percentage of cases adjudicated and dismissed out of the total cases before the Sharia Courts amounted to approximately 87 percent of the total cases, while 71 electronic services were developed and launched in more than 55 Sharia Courts.
Family reconciliation, mediation, and conciliation offices contributed to preserving the cohesion of more than 9,000 Jordanian families and succeeded in redirecting more than 35,000 cases from judicial disputes to consensual agreements.
The two meetings were attended by Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Hassan Al-Issawi and Director of the King’s Office Alaa Al-Batayneh.
