Water Ministry Announces Dams Ready for the 2026/2027 Rainy Season

Al-Taj News – Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Al-Saud announced on Thursday that the dams are ready to receive the 2026/2027 rainy season, after receiving the report of the National Committee for Dam Safety, which confirmed the readiness of dam sites and the safety of their facilities to handle the quantities of water flowing into them during the upcoming season.

Following his receipt of the report, Abu Al-Saud directed workers in the water sector to act responsibly and professionally and implement the plans prepared to deal with emergencies or floods resulting from rainfall in various areas of the Kingdom, in addition to preparing the operations and control rooms at the ministry’s headquarters and following up on their work on an ongoing basis.

During a tour that included a number of water facilities and hydroelectric power generation stations, accompanied by Secretary-General of the Jordan Valley Authority Hisham Al-Haissa and a number of dam officials, the minister reviewed the efforts being carried out by the authority’s personnel to complete maintenance work, prepare the dams, and ensure the safety of their facilities, in addition to cleaning flood channels, valleys, and water structures.

These measures aim to achieve the greatest possible benefit from the rainy seasons in various areas of the Kingdom, given the importance of these vital facilities and the national directions aimed at expanding water harvesting, providing water for various uses, developing economic activity, and ensuring food security, in implementation of the Economic Modernization Vision and the National Water Strategy 2023–2040.
