Energy Ministry, ADFD sign agreements to supply gas to Muwaqqar, Rawda industrial estates
AMMAN — Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Wednesday signed contracts for the implementation of pipeline projects to supply natural gas to Al Muwaqqar and Al Rawda industrial estates, funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD).
TAQA Arabia CEO Pakinam Kafafi signed the contract for the Al Muwaqqar project, while Petrojet Chairman Walid Lotfy signed on behalf of the consortium implementing the Al Rawda project in the Ma’an Development Area, according to a Ministry statement.
Kharabsheh expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support through ADFD, which has allocated $70 million to the two projects.
He said that the initiative forms part of the national strategy to reduce energy costs across economic sectors, enhance industrial competitiveness, expand production lines and create job opportunities.
ADFD Director General Mohamed Suwaidi highlighted the fund’s longstanding partnership with Jordan since 1974, noting that its total financial support to the Kingdom has reached 9.4 billion Emirati dirhams.
He said the investments reflect the strength of the two countries’ strategic ties and contribute to Jordan’s economic growth.
The Al Muwaqqar project will be implemented by a consortium comprising Petrojet and Ahmad Tarawneh and Partners, while Taqa Arabia will implement the Al Rawda project, which includes the construction of a 14-kilometre natural gas pipeline.
The projects are funded under a memorandum of understanding between ADFD and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and are aligned with the Economic Modernisation Vision’s executive programme to upgrade energy infrastructure, enhance investment attractiveness and support sustainable growth.
