Security warning .. ISIS calls for targeting protests in Europe

Al-Taj News – Spanish authorities have detected calls suspected of being linked to extremist entities to target police officers and protesters during the ongoing protests in several European countries, amid warnings against exploiting mass gatherings and street confrontations to carry out attacks.

The Spanish newspaper “El País” reported that the Ministry of the Interior monitored, through a website believed to be linked to ISIS, inflammatory messages calling for attacking the police and protesters during the wave of demonstrations witnessed by European countries, including Spain, Portugal, France, and Italy.

In Portugal, the Internal Security System confirmed that it is closely following the warning, explaining in a written response to the Portuguese news agency “Lusa” that the monitoring is taking place “within the framework of its powers and in permanent coordination with the competent bodies.”

According to the Spanish newspaper, the warning was based on an internal document issued by the Cybersecurity Coordination Office, containing messages encouraging the exploitation of protests with broad popular participation and street confrontations to carry out attacks.
