Al-Taj News – The first polling stations in the United States closed on Tuesday at the conclusion of the midterm elections, which will be decisive for the remainder of Donald Trump’s second term, as Republicans could lose their majority in Congress to the Democrats, potentially leading to restrictions on his powers.
However, the emergence of clear indicators regarding the new balance of power in Washington may take time.
Parts of the states of Indiana and Kentucky were the first areas where polling stations closed at 6:00 PM (23:00 GMT).
In rally after rally, Donald Trump threw his full weight behind this contest and warned of catastrophic consequences in the event of a Democratic victory, which is what the opinion polls suggest.
The White House said this afternoon, “The President has done everything in his power on the ground and has done whatever it takes,” confirming that the Republicans are now “in a better position than they were four weeks ago.”
