Al-Taj News – Transit goods through the Port of Aqaba increased by 155% during the first half of 2026, on an annual basis, driven by the rerouting of trade traffic bound for the Gulf states and Iraq through the port, according to a report issued by “Fitch Solutions”.
The report stated that the disruption of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz contributed to increasing activity at the Port of Aqaba, Jordan’s sole maritime outlet, which boosted the performance of the logistics services sector in the Kingdom.
It pointed out that the rise in transit goods traffic coincided with a notable increase in import volumes passing through the port, which supported activity in the transportation and warehousing sectors.
