Al-Taj News – The administration of US President Donald Trump has moved a series of cases in the context of the competition over the midterm elections, involving accusations of fraud and deception.
Among the cases is the recruitment of a candidate bearing a name similar to that of a Republican senator in Alaska with the aim of influencing the results of the Senate election, alongside challenging the eligibility of thousands of voters in California under the claim that they may potentially not hold US citizenship.
In Alaska, the Department of Justice escalated its criminal investigation regarding allegations that aides to Democratic candidate Mary Peltola enlisted a retired teacher from a remote village, who bears the same name as current Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, and prompted him to run in the election as an independent candidate, in a step described by the US Attorney in the state as an attempt to put forward a “straw candidate”.
