Al-Taj News – French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday that Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu would announce “strong measures” to calm the protests in the country, but he also indicated that the coming weekend could carry the risk of further unrest.
He told journalists in Marseille on Monday: “I also asked the government to respond to the legitimate demands that lie at the heart of this social movement,” according to Agence France-Presse.
Lecornu is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday, after meeting with unions and groups representing high school students.
Macron repeated what Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez had said earlier on Monday, when he predicted that more protests would take place on Saturday.
